The connection between tennis star Stefanos Tsitsipas and Swiss national coach Alisha Lehmann has repeatedly caused a stir in recent months. The Greek has now spoken out about the relationship with the footballer before the French Open.
“We have developed a great friendship,” says the world number five. “I have made it into my head to make friends with athletes from other sports. For example with Giannis Antetokounmpo (basketball pro, editor’s note), we hear each other again and again.”
The two-time Grand Slam finalist has already spoken with Lehmann about their different careers. Tsitsipas also identifies himself as an Aston Villa fan, saying he thinks Lehmann is a “very talented and good footballer”.
The friendship between the Greek and the Swiss started when the little brother of the tennis pro, Petros, invited Lehmann to a mixed doubles match. Tsitsipas then handed the Villa striker a tennis racket. Nati’s player thanked her with a social media post and accepted the invitation. In addition, Lehmann sent the winner of the ATP Finals 2019 a shirt from her club Aston Villa with her name on it. Tsitsipas was photographed with it during training. (nsa)
