Shortly after the final whistle, Bayern announced that CEO Oliver Kahn (53) and sports director Hasan Salihamidzic (46) would no longer work for Munich. And so the championship celebration after the title became a last-minute afterthought.
With Joshua Kimmich (28), one of the stars commented on the situation at the celebration at Marienplatz in Munich on Sunday. “It was a surprise, I didn’t know beforehand,” says the midfielder. “It’s funny that you do it on championship day and don’t wait a few days to do it. It’s been a rollercoaster ride of emotions for us.”
Kimmich did not want to evaluate the decision. However, according to “Bild” it is known that he gets along well with Salihamidzic, the two live in the same neighborhood and have the same regular cafe. The two hugged each other warmly after the victory and Bundesliga triumph in Cologne.
In addition to Kimmich, Toni Kroos (33), another highly decorated ex-Bayern player, also spoke about the chaos. The real star found clear words for the behavior of the management of Bayern towards “Real total”: “Kahn told me that he was not allowed to come. I think the image that the club is giving off now is questionable.”
Kroos thinks the timing is wrong: “You should have let the players and the coach celebrate.” He also expresses concern about the Bayern board’s story: “To confirm that and tell the day before that he was ill. I haven’t heard from him yet, but I believe Oli.”
The midfielder is not completely comfortable, he played with the legendary goalkeeper at Bayern during the 2007/08 season and won the championship. (nsa)
