On Friday, Morhardt’s former colleague Jörg Dahlmann announced the death of his old colleague on Instagram with tears in his eyes. Shocking, because the commentator, who worked as an assistant for the Sky TV channel, was supposed to help Wolff during the Dortmund – Mainz match on Saturday.
As “Bild” writes, the 55-year-old suffered a heart attack while on vacation in Mallorca, but the cause of death has not yet been confirmed. “We have lost someone who may have been my best friend. Michael was perhaps the nicest man I’ve ever known,” says Dahlmann.
For nearly 20 years, the late Morhardt accompanied cult Sky commentator Wolff Fuss games. “It’s a shock. He was by my side at all stages of the world, as an editor, as a friend,” Wolf-Fuss told Bild.
He will still comment on the game against Dortmund – now just without his friend. “It will be strange without him. But he would have accused me of a refusal,” said Wolff Fuss. (par)
