The Competition Committee of the Spanish Football Federation fined Valencia yesterday closing of the Kempes tribune for five games for insulting Real Madrid player Vinicius during a match between the two teams.
The organization reports that it has also decided to “impose a financial penalty of 45,000 euros for committing very serious offenses typified in articles 69.1.c), 69.2.d) and 76.1 of the RFEF Disciplinary Code.” It is specified that “the partial closure will affect the so-called City of Kempes, and it will be fulfilled in accordance with the provisions of Article 57.1” of the aforementioned regulation.
The competition also decided to overturn the red card the Brazilian saw during the match. Vinicius was sent off after a fight with Hugo Duro. First, the referee Ricardo De Burgos Bengoetxea decided to give the Brazilian a yellow card, but after the VAR call, he saw a straight red card. Now the commission has assessed video evidence provided by Real Madrid and decides to withdraw the player’s disciplinary penalty.

In the meantime, three young people from 18 to 21 years old who were arrested yesterday by the national police for insulting the Real Madrid forward were released after testifying in police stations.
Valencia provincial prosecutor’s delegated hate crime prosecutor, Susana Gisbert, has officially opened criminal proceedings in case the insults could constitute a hate crime, although what happened is still being analyzed and there are no open court proceedings at the moment.
The three arrested are Spanish and the police accused them of an alleged criminal offense related to the exercise of fundamental rights and public freedoms. The investigation, in which Valencia cooperated, remains open to identify other possible perpetrators of similar behavior.
Police investigations, as set out in Valencia Community Police Headquarters, started last Sunday during the match at the Mestalla, which was interrupted for several minutes in the second half due to the mentioned insults and gestures with racist undertones addressed to the Real Madrid player. At the time of the incident, members of the Police Intervention Unit identified one of the alleged perpetrators, and later the investigators took various actions that ended with the identification of two other alleged perpetrators.
Camera analysis
Agents continue to analyze both stadium cameras and footage available to the media and images distributed on social media to identify more individuals.
for his part, Susana Gisbert, Prosecutor’s Envoy for Hate Crimes of the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office in Valencia and in charge of the Vinicius case, stated that “it is important to act sharply and without cracks” in this type of cases before the repercussions of a sport such as football.
“It is precisely in this area, in sports, that good values should prevail, so this kind of practice must be stopped at the root,” he pointed out.
The prosecutor stated that it was agreed to start the proceedings in the face of facts that could constitute a hate crime and stated that it was acted quickly “since these crimes especially affect vulnerable victims”.
