Honda will return to Formula 1 from the 2026 season as an engine supplier to the Aston Martin team.

The carmaker from Japan has entered into a factory partnership with the English team – as announced by Blick. The new name will be Aston Martin Aramco Honda. Honda only withdrew from the premier class of motorsport at the end of 2021 due to the high costs, but now also decided to make a comeback because of the reforms that will take effect in two and a half years.

The future new hybrid engines must run on 100% sustainable fuel. The combustion engine in the unit may only contribute 50 percent of the power, the rest is electric. The new regulations, which focus on sustainability, have also allowed Audi (with Sauber) and Ford (with Red Bull) to join from 2026.

Aston Martin currently still runs with Mercedes engines. (SDA)
