Bjelujak is still biting his tail and there is no one to take it out of his mouth

Here we are again, unfortunately, about what should no longer be discussed.

Leaving aside the fact that Vinicius Junior being a football player, his skin, dancing the samba, etc. The point here is that the level of verbal and non-verbal aggression (a topic for another day) that exists and is allowed in society, and especially recently seen on football pitches in some European countries, is very worrying.

As a teacher, I know that one of the goals of education on the whole continent, and I would dare to say in many countries around the world, is to encourage critical thinking, to promote just and balanced societies where tolerance and diversity reign. But the reality, as sad as it is to believe, turn this goal into utopia. Something is being done wrong and we have a structural problem of education.

You just have to go to the football field, which is reflection foundations of society, to see what the stands say to the opposing team and the referees (if they are women, I don’t even want to tell you). It seems that everything is allowed… We have internalized that inside the football stadium any lack of respect has a place and is “respectable”.

But I refuse to think we can’t do better, that I’ll have to tell my son to be ready when it’s his turn. we all have to to question many things as a society, because something is wrong with the system. It is no longer just about racism, which obviously affects us, but other problems that threaten the well-being and social progress we strive for are equally important.

We have to re-educate ourselves, break with some existing social paradigms. Therefore, I call for the only weapon I know and know how to use: education.

Education from the base, homes, schools… Provide everyone with the necessary tools to put an end to this scourge that seems latent even in the 21st century.

Let’s share the responsibilities: that the policy makers, that is, the political leaders of this country, take the part of the blame they owe. And that society, as a whole, theirs. Without these shifts of thought, we are not going anywhere.
