The U17 women’s national team makes a coup at the European Championship in Estonia. The team of coach Veronica Maglia defeated defending champions Germany 2-1 in the last group game in Tallinn and advanced to the semi-finals.
Captain Noemi Ivelj scored the decisive goal in the 71st minute. Iman Beney gave Nati the lead before the break (37′), Merino Gonzales equalized after the break with a free kick for Germany (60′). “I am incredibly proud of the team. The cohesion is extreme, this made the difference today,” says Maglia. Everything is possible now.
In the semi-finals, Switzerland will meet an old acquaintance in France on Tuesday. In qualifying, the Nati won 2-1. Spain and England compete for the second final ticket. Germany has triumphed in four of the last five tournaments.
