The 13th stage of the Giro d’Italia has been changed again due to bad weather conditions. Instead of 199 kilometers, the cycling professionals will cover no less than 75 kilometers on their way to Crans-Montana VS this afternoon.
The start around 2.30 pm is not as planned in Borgofranco d’Ivrea, Italy, but in Le Châble, Valais. The last part of the stage remains unchanged.
A few days ago, the 2,469-meter-high Grosser Sankt Bernard pass, the highest point of this year’s Tour of Italy, was removed from the program due to fresh snow and avalanche danger.
With the sick ex-world champion Mads Pedersen, the winner of the sixth section, the next task awaits before the start. Over the course of the Giro, more than 40 riders have so far had to withdraw from the Tour due to illnesses and injuries. (SDA)
