Iga Swiatek holds a plenary session in Rome

The Polish woman, number one and the favorite to lift the gimp on the Italian clay, played her toughest match so far against the Croatian Donna Vekić

to go holiday defeated the Croat on Tuesday Donna Vekic in two sets, 6-3 and 6-4, and won the quarterfinals of the WTA 1,000 tournament Rome, in which he did not give up the set. The Polish woman, number one and favorite to lift the gimp on the Italian clay, as in the previous two editions, played her most difficult match so far in Rome.

Vekić pressed in the first set and, although he faltered first, he surprised with break this complicated the Pole’s first bet. In the second set, the tie remained until Swiatek accelerated and broke Vekić’s defense for 5-4 and sealed the victory.

In the quarterfinals, the most prepared tennis player in the circle will face the Kazakh Elena Ribakina, favorite seventh.
