Fernando Llorente announces his retirement at the age of 38, thanks to the support he has received

The forward excelled at Athletic and was part of the national teams that won the World Cup in South Africa and Eurocup 2012.

About a month ago, Joaquín announced that he was retiring from football at the age of 41. Now, another player who also wrote important pages in the recent history of this sport has hung up his boots. Llorente was formed in the lower categories Athletic and after making his debut with the first team in 2005, he wore the red and white jersey for nine seasons in which he scored 112 goals. From Bilbao he headed towards Juventus, sets in which he won five titles in two seasons. He later signed for Sevillewith which he won the European League in 2016.

He made the jump to the Premier League to play for Swansea and then joined Tottenham. At the end of the 2018/19 season. he flew to Napleswon the Cup, and after a year and a half in Sao Paolo, he played in the second round in 2020/21. udines.

Llorente’s last professional experience was last season with Eibar in the Second League. He played 22 games with the armored men — the last on June 5, 2022 in Ipurua in playoffs promotion against Girona- and scored two goals.

In addition to the World Cup in South Africa, Fernando Llorente was invited by Vicente del Bosque to the European Championship in 2012, which the Spanish team eventually won.
