Celebrate garland parties – plenty of top Sunday combinations

The third weekend offers more action than ever before in this wrestling season. At four wreath festivals – in the Emmental, Lucerne, Zurich and Vaud – the bad guys compete for the sawdust.

Killian Wenger, the king of wrestling from 2010, comes into action at Bowil’s Emmental Wrestling Festival. In his first course he meets Thomas Sempach. An incredibly open duel, which will take place again for the first time since 2019. Wenger also triumphed against Sempach on the Emmental for the first time: in the first six duels, one was always placed between these two wrestlers.

At the well-attended wrestling festival in Bowil, the couples Matthias Aeschbacher against Fabian Staudenmann and Remo Käser against Bernhard Kämpf are at the start with more delicacies.

Wicki is aiming for a home win

The reigning wrestling king comes into action on Sunday in his homeland in the cantonal of Lucerne. In Nottwil Joel Wicki takes on Nick Alpiger in the first round. Recently, these two met at the ESAF in Pratteln – and Wicki took the top spot. Another co-favorite is Pirmin Reichmuth. The man from Zug, known for his good technique, finished second at his home festival last week and will meet Erich Fankhauser at the start. A duel in the sawdust that has never happened before.

The fourth wreath wrestling takes place in Genolier in Vaud. Defending champion Benjamin Gapany is certainly one of the big favorites – last year he also secured the crown in Valais and Neuchâtel. He meets Marc Gottofrey in 1st gear.

At the Zurich Allmend, Armon Orlik or Domenic Schneider are certainly among the favorites to win the day. However, so far the top couples for the first course are not known.
