Odermatt and Ehammer run for charity

High-ranking sports visitors for the anniversary: ​​ski superstar Marco Odermatt (25) and top decathlete Simon Ehammer (23) mingled among the 5,300 participants at the tenth “Wings for Life World Run” in Zug. The two helped raise a significant amount for spinal cord research.

Across Switzerland, 7,500 people (including the App Run) and about 206,000 runners around the world took part in the charity at the same time on Sunday. The result: the equivalent of almost 5.7 million Swiss francs poured into the box office.

Odermatt is enthusiastic afterwards: “The conditions and the atmosphere were great. And with 18 kilometers I could immediately do a great training. »

“I enjoyed it very much”

The “Wings for Life World Run” comes with a special format: a so-called “Catcher Car” starts driving 30 minutes after the starting gun – gradually overtaking the participants. For those who take it easy, the race can be over after about five kilometers.

Top runners can sometimes cover considerable distances, such as the men’s winner Niklas Sjöblom with 60.7 kilometers or the women’s winner Patrycja Talar with 48.7 kilometers.

Participation this year was a first for decathlete Ehammer: “Great atmosphere. I really enjoyed it.” Eventually he was overtaken by kitesurfer and freeskier Maxime Chabloz, who was in the “Catcher Car” – and finally said: “It’s very moving what we can all experience here.
