The early Saturday games in the Bundesliga are all about the relegation battle, with at least one relegation candidate involved in four games. For Hertha BSC it is already about survival, a victory is needed in the direct duel against VfB Stuttgart. And indeed: the «old lady» is still breathing.
The club from the capital defeated their direct competitor from Stuttgart 2-1 thanks to two goals in the first half. When Florian Niederlechner scored the winning goal in the 45th minute, the Berliners received friendly help from Fabian Bredlow. Because RB Leipzig won the direct game against Freiburg 1-0, the Bulls overtake their current opponent at the table and greet from third place. In between is Union Berlin. Urs Fischer’s team has to accept a bitter disappointment. The Köpenickers lost 0-1 away against Augsburg and are now level with SC Freiburg, only thanks to the better goal difference they are ahead of the Breisgauers.
