The Florida Panthers continue to surprise and also win at the start of the quarterfinal series. Away from the Toronto Maple Leafs, they won 4:2.
It is the fourth win in a row for the Florida franchise, which eliminated the top favorite to win the Stanley Cup with the Boston Bruins in the round of 16.
Carter Verhaeghe scored the winning goal for the Panthers late in the second period after the Canadians came from a 2-0 deficit. Brandon Montour makes the decision in favor of Florida in the middle of the last part. The Panthers lead 1-0 in the best-of-7 series.
The away team also triumphed in the other quarter-finals, which started on Wednesday evening. Seattle Kraken’s victory against the Dallas Stars 5:4 and Yanni Gourde scored the decisive goal in the 73rd minute.
