American Tony Finau defeated the Spaniard to win his sixth PGA Open

American Tony Finau carded a 66 on Sunday to win the PGA Mexico Open title, the sixth of his career, ahead of Spain’s Jon Rahm, the recent Masters champion, in second place.

Finau made five little birds and finished with 260 hits, three ahead of Rahmnumber one in the world rankings, who delivered a spectacular card of 61 last Saturday, 10 under par, but in the fourth round he did not show the same effect and failed to requalify the title won in 2022.

“Rahm is number one in the world and beating him was fantastic; until the end I wasn’t sure of victory,” said Finau, who won his second title this season.

From Thursday to Sunday, the Mexico Open was played with a prize fund of 7.7 million dollars.

With this second place, Jon Rahm slightly increases his advantage as world number 1, while the winner in the Aztec lands moves closer to the top 10 and the Spaniard Pablo Larrazábal climbs 32 places.

Rahm (10.73 average points) is slightly further than the American Scottie Scheffler (10.29) and the Northern Irishman Rory McIlroy (8.54) in top10 that does not record variations this week.

With the victory in Mexico, Finau advances by five places and remains eleventh with 4.87 points.

After the victory in Korea, Larrazábal rose by 32 positions and from 101st to 69th place is the second Spaniard after Rahmo with 1.54 points.
