That can’t be the point. In the previous six sprint races it was at least about the starting positions for the Grand Prix on Sunday. There had to be fighting.

And now in Baku? An innocent touch from Russell in close combat against Verstappen shortly after the start. It was until Tsunoda took apart his Alpha Tauri and the right rear wheel rolled lonely down the track.

The wait for Ferrari continues

And if it gets even cooler (30 instead of 50 degrees on the asphalt), it will be over for the cars from Maranello anyway.

That was also the case yesterday after a few minutes: Pérez passed Leclerc without a fight and did not relinquish the lead. “We know how good Red Bull is in the race. There’s no point in resisting.” Leclerc was lucky that behind him Verstappen did not want to take any risks and was thinking about the World Cup, in which he was still at the top with 75:62 against Pérez.

Alfa Sauber no chance

For Alfa-Sauber, the trip to the Caspian Sea was not worth the trip. On Friday, practice for today’s race went haywire: 14th Bottas, 16th Zhou. In sprint qualifying, the two wanted to make it to the last lap. Bad luck. Because 25 seconds before the end, the American Logan Sargeant crashed into Williams – red flag. End. Out.
