About a year and a half ago, Emma Raducanu (20) enchanted the tennis world. As a qualifier, the Briton sensationally won the US Open. One-syllable answers

Raducanu seemed in no mood to chat as she sat down in front of the journalists to give briefings ahead of their first game. On the contrary. Your answers? As short as possible. She was asked 16 questions and her answers were only 58 words – an average of 3.6 words.

Getting up is now her motto for the next few weeks. Because shortly after her bizarre press conference, she declared herself forfeit for the tournament in Madrid. The reason? An injury to the right hand. This means that she will drop out of the top 100 in the world rankings after the tournament.
