Buemi just missed the podium

class=”sc-3778e872-0 cKDKQr”>

1/5
Sebastien Buemi narrowly missed out on the podium in fourth in Berlin.

The Swiss driver in the Envision Racing Team car started from pole position and even led the race at times. After dropping behind Jaguar driver Mitch Evans, he was pushed off the podium by Sam Bird and Maximilian Günther on the 43rd and final lap.

Only a very small consolation: Buemi is now the first driver in the electric racing series to complete more than 500 laps in his career. The 34-year-old veteran and overall winner of 2015/16 finished 4th for the second time this season, having been fifth once. Geneva’s Eduardo Mortara also scored two points in ninth, while Bern’s Nico Müller (15th) clearly missed them.

Jaguar with second double win

New Zealander Evans and Englishman Bird secured Jaguar’s second straight double victory. Pascal Wehrlein (Porsche), also a former Formula 1 driver, defended his championship lead with 6th place, Buemi, the best Swiss, is 37 points behind 8th. A second race is scheduled for Sunday on the road circuit near the former Tempelhof Airport. (SDA)
