You’ve seen almost everything in playoff finals. How do you experience the current situation with the 2:2 score?
Beat Forster: We knew we had to win at home to confirm the break. We didn’t succeed. It’s 2-2, I’ve seen enough of those situations. Nothing is gained and nothing is lost – we should be aware of that. Now we go to Geneva and try to win again.

It is noticeable that Biel is finding it increasingly difficult to get into the dangerous game that set you apart. Do you agree with me?
We play against good opponents who do their homework well and know how to play against us. They’re doing well. But we also do well against them. These are always close games at a high level and small details make all the difference.

Is it actually fun to play at such a high intensity all the time, or is it just exhausting?
It’s nice to be able to play a playoff final, so it’s nice. But it is certainly also strict, and if it were not strict, we would be doing something wrong. It’s the time to throw it all in and spare nothing. That’s how it should be.

Now it’s time for the decision. After the next game, one of the two teams gets a championship puck. Is this the most exciting part of the playoffs or does it also mean stress?
Tension? No. We knew it was going to be a tight series. And we know we can win in Geneva, which is important for us. After Game 5, someone goes into the next game with a championship puck, but we shouldn’t even let that thought enter our heads. It is more important that we focus on ourselves and then see what happens.

Does EHC Biel have the maturity to stay cool?
Yes.

Even though Biel hasn’t won a championship in 40 years?
None of the players on this team have not become champions in 40 years. So it has nothing to do with the current situation. We have plenty of players who have been through this and know what to do. That is why we veterans have to take the lead a bit and show the young people the way.

As a routine player, how long will you stay angry about such a defeat or how quickly will it be over for you?
I get angry until I eat something.

And on the way home are your thoughts already on the next game?
Not yet. But each player must find his own way to calm down in such situations. I have found these ways through experience. I always sit in the car, call my wife, then we talk, and then everything is fine again.

Do you call your wife? You see your wife a little later.
Yes, but that’s just how I do it. It’s my way of venting. Then she also knows that I am now on my way home. Occasionally she doesn’t answer the phone because she’s already asleep.

And once you get home, have you already passed the game?
When I get home, I open the fridge, grab a beer, drink it and then my working day is over. Then I go to sleep, and when I fall asleep I try not to think about it, because otherwise you won’t sleep well. I had to learn that too.

So was it different in your first playoff final?
Not only the first, but also the second and third. When you are 30 you become calmer and after 35 even more so.
