Fabian Hürzeler (30) started his career as head coach at St. Pauli with no less than ten wins from ten games – a league record. But after the initial euphoria and dreams of progress, the son of a Swiss father and a German mother, who also has an American passport, now experiences a setback.
After Hürzeler’s club from Hamburg had to lose on the last day of the game against Braunschweig for the first time since the beginning of November, St. Pauli has nothing to gain against city rivals HSV.

“It was still respectful during the game. Some have to wonder afterwards how to handle a win. I was raised to be big even when I was winning and I think that’s part of football too. Some didn’t,” the youngest coach of German professional football told Sky afterwards. What is he targeting? “I think the relevant people already know that.” The defeat against the rival is “a slap in the face. After that, we have to get up first,’ continues Hürzeler.
