Biscayan George Bustwith his brave and luxurious piloting, he surprised Tony Bow in the first session of the World Trial Championship in Arteix. But the man who has dominated the sport with an inexorable hegemony since 2007 hit back in the second round, under weather conditions that made it easy for thousands of motorsport fans to watch the outdoor spectacle, who gathered from the first hour of the twelve sector scoring event.
Bou and Busto again kept their pulse, a step above what happened from behind, and Adam Raga and Gabriel Marcelli kept theirs for the third drawer of the podium. Rosaleiro, who climbed on the first date, settled for a commendable fourth place. Behind them is a gap of almost twenty points compared to the other team, in which Jorge Casales from Vigo stood out, who climbed three places compared to Saturday.
Toni Bou passed the course with fourteen penalty points, seven in each lap, and none for time. His regularity was rewarded by the uneven behavior of Bust, who erred in the first round – he added 16 of the 17 penalties he collected in it – and in the second he bordered on perfection, insufficient due to Bou’s solvency.
The third part of the test was the one that presented the greatest difficulty. Toni Bou punished it with five points in each pass, a burden that did not deprive him of the final victory. Busto left five more points in that same moment on his first pass. Second, he fulfilled it masterfully. He was, along with Aniol Gelabert, the only driver who managed to escape unscathed in any of his steps through the third sector. But for Busta, the ten points he gave up in the first pass through the ninth and tenth sectors became insurmountable against the defending champions.
In the fight for the third position, Gabriel Marcelli was better than Adam Raga in the first pass (one penalty less), but he fell in the second, being condemned again in sections nine and ten. Raga is back in a pulse that promises great emotions throughout the season that has just begun.
They had to take care of Martyn
Jorge Casales finished fifth, with better feelings than on the first day, in a test that could not be completed by the British Honda rider Toby Martyn, who crashed in the fourth sector of the first lap and had to be helped after his back hit the rocks, for the medical services.
In the women’s category, the victory was repeated by Berta Abellán (Scorpa) with only five penalty points, which leaves Arteixo as a strong candidate to challenge the second-placed British Emma Bristow for the title. The third was the Frenchwoman Naomi Monnier.
British Jack Peace won Trial 2, ahead of Billy Green and Asturian Pablo Suárez Jambrina, who won the first day. In Trial3, Norway’s Jone Sandvik took the win, with George Hemingway and Italy’s Mirko Pedretto completing the podium.
The organization of the Arteixo Motorcycle Mountaineering Club, in the debut of the city in A Coruña as a venue for this international event, has been successfully completed. The public benefited from the different routes provided by the organization so that fans could follow the development of the test, allowing access on their own test bikes, which gave the event more color among motorcycle enthusiasts who came from different parts of Galicia to follow the competition. . The freeness of the test was another key.
The one in Arteix was the first meeting of the World Cup, which will continue next week in Gouveia (Portugal), and will later visit Motegi (Japan), Baldasserron (San Marino), San Julià de Lòria (Andorra), Sestriere (Italy) and Vertolaye (France).
Toni Bou, with 16 consecutive titles, was pleased with the victory in the second round of Arteix, scoring points for the World Championship, after being knocked out by Jaime Busta on the first day. “This is a very important victory for me. Busto is very strong, he is a great rival and I am very happy for the victory. It’s important to see me up there, especially after being second on the first day. The feeling is much better and I am happy,” he declared at the end of the test.
For his part, Busto regretted not being able to repeat the victory. “It’s a shame, I was quite close to Toni, but a small mistake in the first lap prevented me from fighting for the final victory. I’m in good shape and I think we can have a good season,” emphasized the Basque.
Rosaleiro Gabriel Marcelli remained tied with Adam Rago for third place in the World Cup after two days of competition in Arteix. “It will be a nice duel for the whole season, I think the four of us who were at the top will fight for the tests”, he admits.
“A couple of areas were suffocating me, nine and ten. On the ninth there was a very complicated step and for the first time I was close to climbing. In the second round I went over the gas and missed the base. And in zone ten I stayed in different steps, first at the end of the zone and then in the middle. I didn’t manage to get them out in any of the two rounds and that conditioned me. I was a little short of the podium, which was the goal I had, but in general the balance of the weekend must be positive for us,” he admitted.
Jorge Casales from Vigo improved his ranking compared to the first day. “The pre-season was difficult because I had to adapt to the new engine. We have a lot of work ahead of us with the bike, which for the average user is amazing, the lightest on the market, but at a professional level we are doing development work with it, because of the technology and the injection,” he said. admits.
“We came prepared, but there are little things we have to polish. Expectations were higher, but we are correcting things and the balance sheet is positive. I leave with a good taste in my mouth, psychologically we worked well. I want to thank my club for the organization, I am very excited to be able to run at home with our fans. We cannot relax because we will be in Portugal in a few days,” he admits.
