An extraordinary apartment is located in a quiet residential area in Wangen-Brüttisellen ZH. Two women from Chur, one from Bern and one from Finland share an apartment here – and big ambitions. Laila Ediz (20), Marcia Wick (20), Céline Stettler (22) and Sara Piispa (27) will play with the Kloten-Dietlikon Jets in the superfinal against UHV Skorpion Emmental on Saturday for the championship title.

It is hardly noticeable that four professional floorball players live here. Four drinking bottles are neatly arranged on the wardrobe. And in the umbrella stand there are floorball sticks instead of umbrellas.

Otherwise, the apartment reveals little about its occupants. “Absolutely everything in this apartment, every piece of furniture and every pan belongs to the club. After the championship, we finally want to make it a bit more personal here,” says Céline Stettler.

The trophy must go into the living room

For years, the champion of the series Kloten-Dietlikon Jets has been offering foreign players the opportunity to move into the cheap shared flat instead of finding a place to stay in the region themselves. For Marcia Wick from Chur, the apartment share was even a decisive argument to move to the Zurich Unterland. “In the beginning I had no idea about my roommates. But because we’re on the same team, I knew it would work out.”

Wick was right. The four Jets players have been living together for almost a year now. Other than the normal GC challenges like sticking to cleaning or shopping plans, there have never been any arguments. The passion for floorball unites them all. “It’s really the ongoing problem with us. We discuss our own training or what’s going on with the other teams. Elimination is quite difficult,” says the youngest of the bunch, Laila Ediz.

There is no sign of nervousness in the Jets-WG ahead of the Superfinal. “We are bringing home the championship”, Finn Sara Piispa is convinced. And that is meant quite literally. “If we win the title, we’ll smuggle the bucket into our living room for at least one night!”
