In a fan suit to Basel (archive photo from 2011): YB fans travel in the extra train directly to Joggeli, where they want to follow the match outside the arena.

It is the consequences of Joggeli’s embarrassment: the fan sectors in St. Jakob-Park remain closed on Sunday, ticket sales have stopped. But the FCB and YB fans will still gather at the stadium.

The Muttenzer bend, remorseful after the violence scandal, at the platform where they usually enter the stadium. And the YB fans? They also want to come. Even in the extra train directly to Joggeli. The fans from the east corner of Bern intend to follow the game behind the host sector. This sets an example against collective punishment.

Both fan groups during the game outside the stadium, which also included an outstanding bill due to the stolen YB choreo parts – a delicate premise for security around the arena.

The Basel police appealed to both fan groups

The Basel authorities tell Blick: “The Basel-Stadt cantonal police are aware of the extra train to Basel and are in constant contact with the SBB. The police once again call on fans of both teams to adhere to the fences and not to travel to Basel or to the stadium without a valid ticket.”

The two clubs also ask their fans to stay at home. YB tells Blick: “We are in contact with the umbrella organizations of the fan clubs. The main goal is always that the games go without incident.” It’s about the fans setting a good example against collective penalties.

The leader of the Super League is expected to have a quiet afternoon. “According to the current state of knowledge, we are confident that a meeting with FCB fans will not take place, especially since the Muttenzer curve has shown itself reasonably with its statement during the week,” says YB. “We called on YB fans not to appear in St. Jakob Park on Sunday without a valid ticket. However, it should also be noted that arrival is not prohibited.”

No companions of YB fans on the extra train

This is one of the reasons why the extra train goes directly to the stadium. So there are no YB fans on public trains and not in the city of Basel.

“The train was ordered a few weeks ago, as usual, in collaboration with the club, the fan club and the fan work at SBB,” explains YB, continuing: “On Sundays, however, we will not allow our fan mates to travel on the extra train. We have informed the SBB and the heads of the fan clubs.”

However, YB will be in and out of St. Jakob-Park as in a normal game with on-site contacts. This in support of the authorities, FCB, those responsible for the stadium and also the YB fans.
