Before the match against Nice, Michael Lang looks at the reader with a wide grin in Match-Magazine. “I signed for two more years with Switzerland’s most popular club,” it says. In addition, the oversized signature of the Thurgau. Lang will wear red and blue until 2025.

Until recently, it still seemed that the veteran would leave FCB in the summer. How did the turnaround come about? “In February it didn’t look like I was going to stay,” confirms Lang. “A few clubs have contacted me, then I had to consider what makes sense.”

He wondered what he was in the mood for, and then he realized that the desire to be successful at FCB outweighed it. “That is why we will continue the collaboration for another two years. I very much look forward to what is to come. It’s fun with this group. I would have missed the international matches at any other club,’ says Lang. But the question is whether FCB will also play in the European spotlight next season. They are currently only 6th in the league.

Don’t be afraid of Nice

And the Bebbi will narrowly win the Conference League, the second leg in Nice could already be the end of the line. Lang also has no doubt that the southern French are preferred: “Nice is a team that is very strong individually. They are dangerous, they can kick well, you always have to be careful.” It speaks for his team that Nice did not play so well in the first leg. “We solved it very well in the group.”

FCB already went into the away game after a 2-2 draw in the eighth finals, but the opponent is of a much larger caliber than Slovan Bratislava. However, Lang does not freeze in awe. “We have already proven this season: the stronger the opponent, the better our performance.”
