Women make demands of SFV boss Blanc

The timing is unintentional, but it fits. Only a week after the European Women’s Championship was awarded to Switzerland, the promoters of the “Forza Le Donne” campaign presented their demands to SFV President Dominique Blanc.

FCZ player Kim Dubs and ranking player Ana Maria Markovic, as well as players from basic and youth teams, handed over the manifesto for Swiss women’s football to the SFV boss on Tuesday during the break in the women’s international match between Switzerland and Iceland in Zurich.

The manifesto has been signed online by hundreds of women and men in recent months. Including national players like Ramona Bachmann, Meriame Terchoun or Eseosa Aigbogun, YB board member Ernst Graf, St. Gallen coach Marisa Wunderlin, national council member Corina Gredig or author Bänz Friedli.

Unrealistic and realistic demands

“With this manifesto we draw attention to the unequal treatment of women’s football and point out the benefits of more women in football,” it says. The list of requirements has been extended and contains eleven points. Among them are quite unrealistic ones such as: “Companies and private sponsors make the same sponsorship and equipment contracts with women as with men.”

On the other hand, the wishes aimed at improving the preconditions for women’s football seem realistic. It involves infrastructural matters such as separate cabins for women’s teams, which not even every team in the Women’s Super League currently has.

The point is that the groundskeeper mows the grass just as often for the women’s training sessions as for the men. The point here is that the women’s teams in the professional and amateur clubs are not seen as a club within a club, but are fully integrated.

The health insurance problem

It’s also about health insurance – even in Super League there are a lot of amateur players out of contract, which means you have to pay for individual physiotherapy sessions in rehab because they aren’t reimbursed.

But it is also important that the women’s youth teams in the youth country teams at the SFV receive the same staff as the boys of the same age group. Will the manifesto lead to a reconsideration at SFV President Blanc in view of the 2025 World Cup at home?
