In the fourth stage of the Tour of the Basque Country, Mauro Schmid took the podium for the second time. The 23-year-old from Zurich is classified 3rd.
On the 176 kilometer long circuit with start and finish in Santurtzi, Jonas Vingegaard and Mikel Landa decided the winner among themselves, just like the day before. The Danish leader in the general classification finished just ahead of the Spaniard and thus celebrated the second stage victory in a row.
The 19-man chasing group crossed the finish line two seconds behind, with Schmid leading the way beating his fellow competitors. The Swiss had finished second in the first stage. After his second podium finish, Schmid improved from 36th to 20th overall. (SDA)
