The Galician Automobile Association fires the secretary and vice-president of Ourense

Author: Chiqui Martinez

Alfonso García Eiriz has asked for compensation proportionate to his duties, and the FGA accuses him of “very serious personal and economic limitations”

start from Antonio Rodriguez Troitiño in the presidency Galician Automobile Federation (FGA) to run on a road full of bends and potholes. After taking office on January 22, replacing Iván Corral (who had been at the helm for forty years), he already faced a serious conflict in March, in which eight of the eleven teams co-organizing the regional asphalt rally championship threatened to stand down. They were concerned about their “decisions and patterns” and condemned the “charge” for not fulfilling an election promise to reduce quotas, which in some cases even made them more expensive. Finally, the competition started last weekend in A Coruña, not without criticism from Álvaro Muñiz, head of the organizers, One Seven.

In the past few days, another schism has opened up in the FGA, which it caused yesterday the dismissal of the secretary and vice-president of Ourense, Alfonso García Eirizbetween serious accusations by the federal entity, which justifies the decision “taken with the unanimous support of the board of directors”, based on the alleged “loss of trust” for actions that, according to Troitiño, would have been intended to bring personal economic benefit to Eiriz outside the federation.

The letter accuses President Escudería Carballiño of “unilaterally” preparing the draft s “very serious personal and economic limitations”, adding that he himself could have passed it on to third parties, “or that it caused a sea of unfounded rumours”. He is also accused of seeking “economic and political” benefits above any member of the board, “lack of rigor” in his duties and mistakes that generated “reputational and economic damage to the federation, including the loss of sponsors.” ».

FGA points out that Eiriz was invited to a meeting on March 30 to give relevant explanations, but he did not come. No word yet on who will take over.

It should be recalled that the former secretary and vice president of Ourense competed as an unofficial candidate for president before joining Troitiño’s project to replace Iván Corral.

Among the demands included in the leaked draft (and which some sources say was never presented), Eiriz asked fees according to their functions “in agreement with the president”right to be informed about FGA contracts, election of members, sports decision-making, material management, workplace at headquarters, unrestricted access to information and bank accounts, attendance at meetings, obtaining an official or fiduciary license, freedom to organize or compete in events, laptop, agreement on full time, mobile phone and bank card.
