Strong performance from Gregor Deschwanden: the 32-year-old from Lucerne took 7th place in ski flying in Planica, Slovenia.
In the competition, which was postponed from Friday to Saturday due to persistent wind and was only held in one round, Deschbanden jumped 229.5 meters. With a 7th place, Deschwand not only achieved his best result of the season (so far a 10th place in Sapporo), he also equaled his best result in his career: in 2015 and 2017 he was 7th in Nizhny Tagil in Russia.
Ski flying was won by Austrian Stefan Kraft, who celebrated his 30th World Cup victory with a jump of 239.5 metres. Deschwand’s teammates Simon Ammann and Remo Imhof jumped to 29th and 35th place.
The team competition also takes place in Planica on Saturday. (SDA)
