Despite April 1, two-time world champion Max Verstappen does not feel like joking in this qualification. The Dutchman in the Red Bull takes pole position in Australia without discussion. However, Verstappen does not seem to be really happy with his car, he said in a radio message in Q3. Still, it’s easy enough for the front starting position for the 22nd time.

The two Mercedes drivers come closest to Verstappen’s time. George Russell will start from the front row for the first time this season, with teammate Lewis Hamilton behind him.

The unlucky one of the weekend has already been found: just like in the third training session, Sergio Pérez of Red Bull ends up in the gravel trap.
