Rain postponed Alcaraz’s match against Fritz for this Thursday

The organization scheduled the match as the first of the night term, at 1:00 Spanish time

The intense rain that fell in Miami forced this Wednesday night program to be postponed to Thursday, which predicted a duel quarterfinals Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz against Taylor Fritz and that of Russian Ekaterina Aleksandrova against Czech Petra Kvitova. The match was again scheduled in the evening, at one in the morning Spanish time and can be followed via Movistar +.

Rain continues to be the protagonist in Miami and, after delaying the program for more than three hours on Tuesday, it has allowed the playing of only two of the four games scheduled for this Wednesday. Romania’s Sorana Cirstea toppled Belarus’ Aryna Sabalenko to return to the WTA 1,000 semi-finals for the first time since 2010, while Italy’s Jannik Sinner dominated Finland’s Emil Ruusuvori with authority. Sinner won 6-3, 6-2 in a match that was interrupted for almost two hours due to rain. However, the Italian managed to finish their match before the weather forced him to leave the competition.

Sinner reached the semifinals in Miami after doing so two weeks ago in Indian Wells and will have a day more rest than Alcaraz or Fritz, who must play on Thursday. The Italian is playing tennis at the highest level and is already certain of entering the top ten in the world rankings next Monday.

Alcaraz was scheduled to compete in the final match on center court, which would be his first match against Taylor Fritz. The Murcian, number one in the world, reached the quarter-finals after eliminating Argentina’s Facundo BagnisSerbian Dusan Lajovic and Tommy Paul, in a duel in which he took revenge for the defeat the American inflicted on him last summer in Montreal.

This Thursday, he will play with Russian Daniil Medvedev, against Christopher Eubanks, and Argentine Francisco Cerúndola, who will face Karen Khachanova. In the women’s draw, Americans Elena Rybakina and Jessica Pegula are already in the semifinals, while Kvitova and Alexandrova will play this Thursday for a ticket to the semifinals, where Cirstea awaits them.
