The Swiss national team U21 with captain and goal scorer Kastriot Imeri can celebrate a victory in a friendly match.

The Swiss U21 national team wins the second test of the international break. Four days after the narrow defeat against Spain, Patrick Frame’s team defeated Israel 2-1 in another duel between two European Championship participants in Basel.

The Swiss sweep the game in the last half hour. Dan Ndoye was decisive twice at the St. Jakob sports facility near his home stadium. In the 67th minute, the FCB striker made a perfect match for Kastriot Imeri, who scored 1-1 from a tight angle. Some ten minutes later, Ndoye launched a cross from St. Gallen’s Julian von Moos, who secured victory in a direct duel with Israel’s keeper. The visitors took the lead shortly after the break after a corner by 19-year-old Dor Turgeman.

Israel’s U21 national team will participate in a European Championship final in Romania and Georgia for the second time in June. Switzerland is there for the fifth time, for the second time in a row. Group opponents are Norway, France and Italy. The direct preparation for the tournament starts for the SFV selection with the next meeting on June 7. (cat/SDA)
