Belinda Bencic is confident in second round Miami.

Belinda Bencic confidently copes with the difficult task in the opening match of the WTA 1000 tournament in Miami. The East Swiss defeated Canadian Leylah Fernandez 6: 1, 6: 1.

The 20-year-old left-hander from Canada, currently number 53 in the rankings, is always good for a surprise. In 2021 she reached the final at the US Open and last summer she knocked Bencic out of the tournament at the French Open.

In the night to Saturday, however, she cannot harm the Swiss top ten player. Bencic leads 4-0 and immediately breaks through the service of Leylah Fernandez in the second set. After 68 minutes, the 26-year-old uses the first game ball.

In the 1/16 final, the East Swiss will meet Ekaterina Alexandrowa (WTA 18). The Russian lost the last two matches against Belinda Bencic and is also 2:3 behind in a direct comparison. (SDA)
