Portuguese striker Cristiano Ronaldo He was happy to stay connected with his team, which still has “a lot to give” in Roberto Martínez’s first roster as coach, as he reflected on his recent foray into League of Saudi Arabia.

“I feel very good, so I’m here. I’m in a very competitive league. They should see the Saudi League in a different way. It’s obviously not like the Premier, but it’s competitive. They have good teams, Arab players are good, foreigners give quality. Within five years, if they follow this plan, it will be the fourth or fifth most competitive league in the world. I am very happy,” he said.

Cristiano appeared at a press conference ahead of this Thursday’s match at the Estádio José Alvalade against Liechtenstein, the start of the qualifying phase for Euro 2024. Change on the Portugal bench, with the arrival of the Spaniard Roberto Martinezhe kept his bet on CR7 ending the World Cup in Qatar with a substitute role that seemed to herald his international end.

“I won’t lie to you. We have to weigh everything in our life. We think, we think, me and my family. I saw things from a different perspective. I’m happy to be back. The coach showed that he was counting on me. I always wanted to play and I managed to realize that I have a lot to give to the national team. I feel it, I want it and my desire is to take Portugal to the highest level,” he said.

Cristiano, who celebrated the change “that Portugal needed”, confirmed Roberto Martínez, at the same press conference, as the team’s first captain. In addition, the Al-Nassr player was calm with the competition of Gonçal Ramos and did not want to remove his controversial departure from Manchester United.
