Hartweg writes Swiss biathlon history

class=”sc-3778e872-0 gWjAEa”>

A beaming Niklas Hartweg cheers in Oslo.

Second in the individual competition at the start of the World Cup at the end of November in Kontiolahti, Finland, second in the mass start at the end in Oslo: Swiss biathlete Niklas Hartweg ensures a harmonious conclusion to his breakthrough season.

Just like the day before, when he finished sixth in the pursuit, the 23-year-old from Schwyz clears all 20 targets. Because dominator Johannes Thingnes Bö does not stay clear, Hartweg even leads the 15 km mass start race in between.

Only squall faster than Hartweg

In the end, the Norwegian Boe triumphed for the 19th time this winter despite two missed shots. Hartweg loses 26.2 seconds in second place, but manages to hold his own with a lead of nine seconds over Norwegian Vetle Sjaastad Christiansen.

Hartweg thus wins the U25 general classification. Never before has a Swiss taken first place in the Biathlon World Cup.

Also nice in Oslo: with Sebastian Stalder from Zurich (9th), a second Swiss made it into the top 10. (SDA / mpe)
