Yes, in winter the new cars are assembled in the factories. Hope works everywhere, hardly a negative statement emerges from the thick walls of the room. But then you have to take off your pants in the three test days in Bahrain.

When the stopwatch starts (and the computer and simulator data are no longer relevant) often the whining about the lack of more test days. But exactly this step into the past with eight days of testing would be wrong – and would only benefit the top teams more.

Mercedes boss Toto Wolff (51) also admits that the vehicle concept has been lost: “The data deceived us, made us believe that success would come back!” It would have been better to have listened to Hamilton, who warned the team to go in the wrong direction.

And at Ferrari, the great technical brain Mattia Binotto (53) is now missing after two departures. But he also wanted all the power in the team – and failed. Successor Vasseur now eats hard bread.
