Vortex at SRF about the new sports panorama presenter Gyr

class=”sc-3778e872-0 gWjAEa”>

Will be able to demonstrate her live qualities in the sports panorama: Fabienne Gyr. Here at “SRF bi de Lüt”.

Sunday evening at 6 p.m. Fabienne Gyr (35) will be in the spotlight of the Sportpanorama studio for the first time: First appearance as a presenter of the SRF Sport flagship. But behind the scenes things are rumbling.

The problem: The sports staff was trampled underfoot by Gyr’s nomination. A number of candidates who also thought they had a shot at the prestigious job went away empty handed – some didn’t even know that the broadcaster was looking for another sports panorama face Maria Salzgeber, Sascha Ruefer and Paddy Kalin in addition to the previous moderation crew with Rainer.

No casting, no testing

If you ask around the SRF environment, you will find: The staff creates a lot of fuss.

Gyr got the job without having to audition or compete against internal competitors. This irritates many on the Leutschenbach. “We do not provide information about specific application and hiring procedures due to confidentiality,” said Susan Schwaller, editor-in-chief of SRF Sport, when asked. “There is no standardized application process for filling such a position. Because we knew about Fabienne Gyr’s excellent qualities as a moderator, we had been in contact with her for quite some time.”

“Clearly the cast gives something to talk about”

The woman from Central Switzerland was the “desired cast”, says Schwaller, referring to Gyrs “more than ten years of experience in the sports sector – as a moderator in the sports section of Tele 1 or as a speaker at various wrestling festivals”. Gyr (“SRF bi de Lüt”, “Samschtig-Jass”) indeed carries a well-filled sports backpack, recently awarded the “Sports Awards” together with Salzgeber.

But it is also clear that there is an outside moderator coming with her to kiss the hand. This is new, especially since two SRF sportswomen, Sybille Eberle and Annette Fetscherin, could be considered for the Sunday night flagship. Gyr, on the other hand, is not part of SRF’s sports editorial team, but joins the team during the weeks she is on the air. “Clearly filling this position is something to talk about internally,” admits Schwaller.

Beni Thurnheer is already a fan

“I can understand if one or the other was disappointed,” Gyr was relaxed on the subject. “I think I was just in the right place at the right time. The fact that I am a woman was certainly not a disadvantage for once.”

By the way, she already has an SRF legend by her side: Beni Thurnheer (73). “She should stay as she is and not listen to the advice of others,” said the Zurich resident in early March. «Fabienne made a positive impression on me when she was still working at the local station. She will get the job done with flying colors.”
