The third quarter-final of the Veysonnaz Snowboard Cross World Cup could not have started better for the two Swiss riders Lara Casanova (26) and Anouk Dörig (20). They start quickly and immediately conquer the top. After the Canadian Audrey McManiman (28) then overtook and destroyed the Swiss double lead a short time later, the two compatriots now compete for second place and the corresponding semi-final ticket.
But shortly before the end of the shock: Casanova and Dörig get too close in a turn and drop each other. A smiling third is Brianna Schnorrbusch (17). The American drives past and advances to the semi-finals.
Particularly bitter: for Anouk Dörig it was the first World Cup competition of her career, reaching a semi-final would have been a success for the debutante.
Apart from Casanova and Dörig, no other Swiss woman made it to the semifinals, the British Charlotte Banks (27) eventually won and thus achieved her fifth World Cup victory in a row.
The Swiss are also disappointing among the men, not a single Swiss snowboarder reaches the semi-finals. The day victory goes to the German Martin Nörl (29). (byl)
