It’s staggering numbers at staggering heights – and the names are the crème de la crème of world sport. “Sportico” has published a list of the highest paid athletes in history. And one of them should not be missing: Roger Federer.

According to the ranking, which includes all earnings until the end of 2022, the tennis maestro, who stepped down last fall, earned an incredible CHF 1.26 billion, ranking ninth.

In the tennis scene he is the clear high flyer. His old rival Rafael Nadal follows in 29th place with the equivalent of 604 million francs.

Michael Jordan second to none

However, compared to the top positions, Federer is clearly at a disadvantage. Football superstars Lionel Messi (1.36 billion) and Cristiano Ronaldo (1.45 billion) precede him, as does the absolute top earner in the ranking: basketball legend Michael Jordan.
