Wawrinka defeats Rune in Indian Wells

Stan Wawrinka (37) from Vaud defeated the number 8 in the world Holger Rune in the sixteenth final in Indian Wells (California). The 18-year-old Swiss wins 6:2 6:7 (5:7), 7:5 in 160 minutes.

Wawrinka knows how to take control early in the game. After just over 20 minutes, the three-time Grand Slam winner leads 5:1. Moments later, the first run on dry land. The second set, on the other hand, is much more balanced, up to the score of 4:3 for Wawrinka. In the eighth game he manages to break, serving to win set and match.

But the nerves flutter, suddenly he makes mistakes. The re-break comes immediately, the tie-break has to decide. And in this Wawrinka leads 5: 2, in turn can decide the game himself with his own serve. But again unnecessary mistakes creep in, the otherwise safe backhand lands somewhere, just not in the field. Jubilee victory on the ATP tour
