Gary Lineker and the BBC are putting the whole of England on edge. Now more commentators and moderators are walking away from the broadcaster.
What does the “Match of the Day” edition look like on Saturday night? Gary Lineker is not allowed to moderate the popular highlight format after sharp criticism of asylum policies and in particular the rhetoric of the right-wing government. The BBC’s decision is causing a stir.
Experts Ian Wright and Alan Shearer announced their waiver last night. The broadcast should therefore take place without a studio, only with the summaries. Only: the commentators join the boycott. In today’s broadcast, the games will likely be set to music with international voices.
