Shiffrin laughs off the SRF interview

Mikaela Shiffrin (27) will surely go down in the history books – her 86th World Cup victory in the giant slalom in Are puts the American record holder on a level with skiing legend Ingemar Stenmark.

“Records are not too crazy for me. But for some to mention my name in the same sentence as Ingemar Stenmark is pretty wild,” says a visibly happy Shiffrin in the SRF interview after the record win.

Shiffrin runs off: “Have a nice day!”

However, for them, wins are less important than World Cup balls, meaning “a symbol of consistency throughout the season.” But: “Having the 86 is just wow. It hasn’t been easy these past few weeks, everyone has always asked me about it.” This victory should come as a great relief for the 27-year-old.

And the 86th will be followed – probably soon – by the 87th victory. But Shiffrin doesn’t want to know about that yet. When asked by SRF moderator Lukas Studer, she ends the interview with a laugh. “No, no!” Shiffrin sang into the TV microphone. An ironic “Have a nice day!” – and the woman is gone.

A day later, the girlfriend of the Norwegian Aleksander Aamodt Kilde is again challenged: in the Are slalom (first run from 10.30 am) Shiffrin is again the driver to beat. Otherwise, she will soon face SRF-Studer again – who will then probably be happy to ask her about the 88th World Cup victory. (tired)
