The Spanish athlete fell to the ground first after a blow to the head and had to be carried out on a stretcher. He will return to Spain tomorrow after undergoing medical tests

Quique lopis he could not finish the final this Sunday 60 meters hurdles at the European Indoor Championships in Istanbul (Turkey), after he suffered a fall that caused him to lie on the ground and was carried out on a stretcher by the local medical service.

As soon as he fell, the Spanish athlete was helped by doctors who came to his aid after the initial detention fell to the ground after a headbutt. After a few minutes, they put him on a stretcher and consciously pulled him to help the doctors in the ambulance.

However, none of the rivals came to his aid and showed a completely passive attitude. “I am ashamed of the attitude of other athletes who could not approach and ask what is happening with the Spanish athlete. What a deplorable attitude,” wrote Roberto Sotomayor on Twitter.

The victory went to the Swiss Jason Joseph, who was focused on celebrating the title, oblivious to what was happening a few meters behind him. While doctors cared for Llopis, he and the other athletes celebrated. An unsportsmanlike attitude that caused a lot of criticism on social networks.

A few hours later, Basel corrected it. “The first is the first. I’m sorry I didn’t check on you. I was lost at the time, completely blocked from my surroundings. I hope you are well, I see you at outdoor competitions,” he said in a message to the Spaniard.

This morning the good news was confirmed. After being in the hospital all night due to a fall, he returns to Spain tomorrow. The athlete from Valencia, who is accompanied by his father and coach Toni Puig, will stay in a hotel in Istanbul for the day.
