Bettoni is a strange choice

david who? Bettoni, ah, yes. That is the name of the man who is taking over the Ascension Command in Zion. Well, this mission isn’t that bad after all. Nobody gets off right away. And FC Sion certainly has much more potential than third place in the Challenge League.

And yet it is a mysterious choice. The solution Paolo Tramezzani was obvious. The Italian did well in Zion. The team is already out of the mess. You know him. He knows the club. And he knows the competition inside out.

But something didn’t work. And so someone kisses the hand who does not meet the requirements of sports director Barthélémy Constantin: he must know the club and the competition.

David Bettoni has never worked in Switzerland and probably knows the crazy conditions in Valais from hearsay, for two reasons at most: because of the president, who is a famous European butterfly. Or because of superstar Mario Balotelli, who got lost in the Rhone Valley.

Once again a big name made the difference at CC: Zinédine Zidane! Circumstances like these regularly blind CC. Bettoni was an assistant to the great Zizou for many years. And that is why, CC argues, he must now have the same DNA as Zidane.

But it’s a completely skewed choice. I don’t understand Swiss football. No idea about FC Sion.

But who knows: maybe the crazy club in the mountains needs just such a coach to get back on the road to success. Someone who is the opposite of what logic dictates. Because if you know anything in Valais, it’s that you know nothing…
