I Morantstar Memphis Grizzlies, He was suspended this Saturday for “at least” two games by his team after apparently displaying a weapon in a live video on his account Instagram, applied for the franchise.
Morant began the live video in the early hours of this Sunday morning when he was at a nightclub after his team’s loss to the Denver Nuggets and was recorded carrying a weapon in one hand.
“The Grizzlies are announcing that Ja Morant will be out for at least the next two games,” Memphis said in a statement after learning of the incident. Morant, the leader of the second-place Grizzlies in the Western Conference, will miss games against the Los Angeles Clippers and Los Angeles Lakers, both in California.
A long line of accusations
This new case happened just three days after The Washington Post reported that Morant was charged with allegedly beating and threatening a 17-year-old with a gun last summer, according to police records obtained by the paper.
The facts date back to last summer, when, within four days of each other, Morant was accused of threatening a security guard at a shopping center in Memphis during an argument, and of threatening a 17-year-old with a gun during a basketball game at a player’s home after a fight.
A fight in the shopping center parking lot with a security guard resulted in the alleged victim’s complaint to the police, but no arrests were made.
Alleged threats to a minor
Four days later, Morant is accused of “repeatedly headbutting” the juvenile and throwing him to the ground. The police determined that the injuries were caused by the blows, according to the Washington Post.
The boy also assured police that after the fight, Morant went to his house with a “visible gun” in his pants and his hands on the gun.
In addition, it was revealed on February 6 that Morant’s surroundings were under investigation by the NBA after the Indiana Pacers accused him of pointing a red laser, possibly from a weapon, at members of his coaching staff following an altercation on January 29 in Memphis.
The NBA assured through a spokesperson that its investigators have interviewed several witnesses and reviewed the images recorded by security cameras and that, despite the confirmation that there was a strong fight, they cannot yet “confirm that some people threatened others with weapons.” “
In the Jan. 29 Grizzlies-Pacers game, Morant got into an altercation with Chris Duarte in the third period and, after the game, the Grizzlies leader confronted members of the visiting team in the bus section.
Subsequently, Morant got into the car with his entourage, and the Pacers coaching staff assures that he saw a red laser aimed at them.
