On Thursday, after a downhill training in Kvitfjell, the super-technician received bad news: her sister-in-law Sara Fino, a former cross-country skier, died a day after her 30th birthday. She was found dead in her bed. Bassino immediately left to assist her brother Matteo, Fino’s husband. The couple has two children together.
The cause of death is still unclear. Apparently Fino had a heart attack. As Italian media report, the emergency doctors tried to resuscitate her. It is unclear if and when Bassino will return to the ski circus.
