Suspension against SCB-DiDomenico remains

The single judge of the National League rejects SC Bern’s appeal against the suspension of Chris DiDomenico (34). The top scorer of the Mutzen will miss the derby against the SCL Tigers on Thursday evening.

The Canadian enfant terrible was automatically handed a one-game suspension by the league for his third acting performance of the season. The SCB then appealed, which has now been rejected. DiDomenico must therefore pay the fine of 6,000 francs (plus 740 francs for the appeal) and is doomed to watch tonight.

“At least this is true in the case of the suspect, but different from how the suspect explains it. The suspect looks at the referee as he falls and then when he is on the ground,” Knopf writes. “This is not a natural reaction to a foul, but a strong indication of diving/beautification. What does a player do when a foul is made, especially if he stumbles? He tries to regain his balance, not fall and keep playing. He just doesn’t care what the referee does, he tries to keep playing.”

The single judge continues: “It does not matter in this case whether there was an offense or not, and whether Djuse’s blow with the stick was an act of revenge or not. The only relevant question is whether the suspect has reacted exaggeratedly and unnaturally.” (dti/sr)
