The big favourite, the Norwegian Birk Ruud, started the second run from position 3 and knocked Ragettli off the throne. Christian Nummedal, also a Norwegian, pushed past the Swiss in the recap.
The 24-year-old from Laax started as the defending champion. Two years ago, Ragettli had won gold in both slopestyle and big air at Aspen. He was also on the podium in all three competitions this season, even as the winner in Laax.
Engelberger Fabian Bösch, the 2015 world champion, finished eighth. Valentin Morel from western Switzerland finished in 12th place.
The US has nothing. The Americans, led by Olympic champion Alexander Hall, did not start with their best slopestylers.
A few hours earlier, Mathilde Gremaud had already won gold for the Swiss women in slopestyle. After Ragettli’s bronze, Switzerland appears on the medal table with 8 podium places. (SDA)
