Video exposes Sweden as a double simulant

Swedish defender Josef Ingman’s season has been solid so far: the 27-year-old has five goals and 16 assists with Modo Hockey, second in Sweden’s top division.

Nevertheless, Ingman is now being transferred from the club to the stands for a game. The reason for this is curious: Modo punishes his own player in this way. Because Ingman was exposed as a worthless simulant multiple times.

Even in the stadium, swallows are exposed

The defensive player was doomed to death with seven inglorious minutes last Friday in the game against Djurgarden. In this period of the middle third, TV images condemn Ingman of acting twice, when he theatrically throws his head back after duels and does an elbow check. Particularly embarrassing: Even on the stadium video cube, Ingman’s actions are revealed as evil swallows.

In hockey-crazy Sweden, the criticism of the player after the simulations is huge. The league’s disciplinary committee must soon issue a hefty fine. However, Modo Hockey reacted more quickly by independently withdrawing Ingman for at least one game. “We make it clear that the club does not accept such a thing. We try to stop such actions,” explains Modo sports director Henrik Gradin.

Ingman shows regret: ‘I’m ashamed of it’

Josef Ingman himself has also spoken out. And he is very sorry. “I support the club’s action 110 percent. What I did is not right.” And the Modo defender adds: “I am ashamed of my actions.”

Swedish swallows? The Swiss league knows this too: Zugs star striker Carl Klingberg recently caused a stir because he was fined for the third time for acting (for a total of 6,000 francs). The 32-year-old Swede then felt unfairly treated and even suspected that the league was discriminating against foreign players.
