Next NBA star breaks 70 points

Next point explosion in the NBA: Point guard Damian Lillard of the Portland Trail Blazers led his team to success in the North American professional basketball league with a whopping 71 points. In the 131:114 over the Houston Rockets, he scored 13 3-pointers and totaled 22 of his 38 pitches.

Lillard is only the eighth player in league history to break 70 points, and the oldest at 32. In early January, Donovan Mitchell of the Cleveland Cavaliers also scored 71 points, setting the season record that Lillard has now tied. Only Wilt Chamberlain (100, plus in four other games), Kobe Bryant (81) and David Thompson (73) scored more than 71 points in an NBA game.

Hawks on the rise

The Atlanta Hawks also win the second game in the NBA since the firing of coach Nate McMillan. With the last siren, Trae Young manages to score a two-point shot for the 129:127 victory against the Brooklyn Nets. The all-star point guard gave the Hawks their 31st win in 61 games just hours after Quin Snyder was officially revealed as the new coach.

Clint Capela was only able to advertise to his boss to a limited extent. The Hawks’ Geneva center, who spent just 19 minutes on the field and collected six points, recorded the highest tally of any player with 12 rebounds. However, he finished the game with a record of minus 16. (AFP/SDA)
