Since Thomas Tuchel (46) was sacked from Chelsea last September and replaced by Graham Potter (47), the Blues have fallen from sixth to tenth. The latest chapter in the bullying season: Chelsea lost the Premier League derby 2-0 to Tottenham. Tuchel successor Potter has only two left won his last 14 games as manager. The question: how many times can the “new” Chelsea coach lose?
The performance certainly raised eyebrows at club owner Todd Boehly in the stands. In the winter he turned things upside down and spent almost 300 million euros on new players. No income has yet come from it – none of the new players could convince in the Blues shirt. Stars such as Joao Felix, Mykhaylo Mudryk and world champion Enzo Fernandez also owe everything to Tottenham.
Potter also blames Pastor Tuchel for the misery, among others. “Some of the experienced players said it was the worst pre-season preparation they’ve ever had,” he said at a pre-match press conference against Tottenham Hotspur.
One of those experienced players is defender Thiago Silva (38). The veteran had to be substituted against Tottenham after a painful duel and then did not return. In addition to the poor performance, the following bad news for Chelsea. (par/AFP)
